DiamondScore is a number between 0 and 10 given to a natural diamond which has been independently certified by one of the following Gemmological Laboratories: GIA, EGL, HRD, AGS or IGI. A score of 0 would be given to the worst quality diamond and a score of 10 to the best quality diamond. Scoring a diamond using DiamondScore shows which diamonds are better than the next without the requirement to have intimate in-depth knowledge of all attributes, their benefits and drawbacks. The overall DiamondScore for each diamond is arrived at by the following method: We take the following attributes of a diamond, from the certificate: 1) Carat Weight 2) Colour 3) Clarity 4) Cut Grade 5) Table Percentage 6) Depth Percentage 7) Polish 8) Symmetry 9) Fluorescence 10) Girdle 11) Length To Width Ratio 12) The Gemological Laboratory That Certified The Diamond Each of these attributes is given an individual score between 0 and 10. Each attributes score is then weighted by its importance in determining the quality of the diamond. The overall DiamondScore is then calculated from the accumulated score.
