The terms "ecosystem innovation" refer to a consulting service or methodology consisting of market research conducted with members of a client company's ecosystem followed by an innovation process in search of business and product opportunities for said client company. A company's ecosystem encompasses any and all individuals who somehow are related to a given product or service provided by said client company. A company's ecosystem includes, but is not limited to: employees; customers, consumers or buyers of the product or service; sales personnel (internal or third party); all those involved in the manufacturing, production, packaging, branding and delivery of said product or service; all those involved in the promotion and marketing of the product or service (online and offline channels); and all those involved in the review, analysis, commentary, endorsement or recommendation of said product or service (online and offline channels).
